It is with immense gratitude and pride, that we introduce this year’s grand marshal for the 2024 homecoming parade, Williamsville High School Principal, Doug Furlow, who will be retiring at the end of this school year.

Doug is a 1987 graduate of Crab Orchard High School.  Following graduation, he attended John A. Logan Community College, earning an associate’s degree while playing baseball.  He then attended Eastern Illinois University where he continued to play baseball and earned a degree in business education.  Upon graduation from EIU, Doug began his teaching career at Cissna Park High School in 1992 while finishing his master’s degree in physical education with a concentration in sports management. 

He moved to Williamsville in 1994 and continued his teaching career while coaching baseball. Doug was the varsity baseball coach for eleven seasons and guided the Bullets to seven conference championships, four IHSA Regional championships, three IHSA Sectional championships, a fourth place IHSA State finish in 2005, and a second place IHSA State finish in 1997. He finished his coaching career with an overall record of 281-86-3, which places him second all-time in wins in program history.

While teaching and coaching, Doug earned his administrative certificate at Sangamon State in Springfield.  Doug moved into administration in the fall of 2006.  He served as WHS assistant principal and district athletic director for six years before being hired as WHS principal in 2013.  Doug has served the Williamsville district for 30 of his 33 years in education.
