Cross Country Team Two of Seven Fall Varsity Teams Earn the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award

The Williamsville CUSD 15 Athletic Department is proud to announce, that both the Bullets Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were two of seven varsity teams from the 2023 Fall season to have been awarded the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award. In order to be eligible for this award, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The overall GPA for the department for the season was 3.74, which was an increase from 3.62 in 2022.

The bar has always been set high at Williamsville High School in terms of success for both academics and athletics. We are proud that this group of student athletes has carried on this tradition of excellence both on the field of play and in the classroom.

Junior Louisa Wilson Finishes as an IHSA All-State Runner for the Third Straight Season

For the third straight season, WHS junior, Louisa Wilson, finishes as an IHSA all-state runner. She adds her 18th place finish on Saturday, November 4, to her previous two third place finishes.

WHS Girls’ Cross Country Team Qualifies for the 2023 IHSA State Meet

For the sixth time in program history, the WHS Girls’ Cross Country Team is headed to the IHSA State Meet. Led by junior Louisa Wilson who finished second overall (18:18.17) at the Elmwood Sectional, the Bullets finished with three runners in the top twenty (Joelle Wilson (Fr) 11th and Hannah Nation (Jr) 16th). The landed the team in 6th place with an overall score of 166.

 

The Bullets will now head to Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, November 4. Race time is scheduled for 9:00 am.

Two WHS Boys’ Cross Country Runners Qualify for the 2023 IHSA State Meet

The WHS Boys’ Cross Country Team will be sending two runners to the IHSA State Meet, after finishing in the top twenty at the Elmwood Sectional on Saturday, October 28. Lucas Hollinshead (Fr) finished seventh overall with a time of 15:28.22, and Jonathan Janssen (Sr) finished in twentieth with a time of 15:54.35.

 

The Bullets will now head to Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, November 4. Race time is scheduled for 10:00 am.

Girls Cross Country Team Captures 2023 Sangamo Conference Title

The WHS Girls Cross Country Team captured the 2023 Sangamo Conference Title on Saturday, October 7, at Don Williams Track at Williamsville High School. The team finished with an overall score of 35 points, four points ahead of Pleasant Plains. This was the team's first conference title since 2019, and the program's fourth overall.

Three Girls Cross Country Runners Earn 2023 Sangamo All-Conference Honors

The WHS Girls Cross Country Team had three runners earn Sangamo Conference all-conference honors at the conference meet on Saturday, October 7. Junior Louisa Wilson earned a three-peat as conference champion with a time of 18:22.24. Junior Hannah Nation finished in fourth place with a time of 19:05.75, and freshman Joelle Wilson finished in fifth place with a time of 19:14.59.

Two Boys Cross Country Runners Earn Sangamo Conference All-Conference Honors

The WHS Boys Cross Country Team had two runners earn Sangamo Conference all-conference honors at the conference meet on Saturday, October 7.  Senior Jonathan Janssen finished in sixth place with a time of 15:59.06, and freshman Lucas Hollinshead finished in seventh place with a time of 16:08.84.

2023 High School Cross Country First Day Practice Information

The first day of practice for the 2023 Williamsville High School Cross Country team will take place on both Monday, August 7 starting at 7:00 am at Don Williams Track.

All runners must have a current physical within the last year and complete the athletic registration process online, or they WILL NOT be able to participate in tryouts. You can access the athletic registration document at the following link: 23-24 Athletic Registration Form

If a runner received an UPDATED PHYSICAL over the summer, they must bring a copy on the first day of try-outs and send a copy to Jennie Wagoner at wagoner@wcusd15.org.

2023 High School Cross Country Summer Workout Information

The Williamsville High School Cross Country program has a variety of open runs that are taking place throughout the 2023 Summer contact days. These workouts will begin on Monday, June 5. You can find the first week’s schedule below:

Monday, June 5: 7:00 am at Don Williams Track on the campus of Williamsville High School
Tuesday, June 6: TBD (Senior Led)
Wednesday, June 7: 7:00 am at Sherman Trail
Thursday, June 8: TBD (Senior Led)
Friday, June 9: 7:00 am at Sherman Village Park.
