WCUSD #15 Baseball Field to be Named in Honor of Gerry Timm

Gerry Timm has been a fixture in the Williamsville and Sherman communities since becoming a teacher at Williamsville High School in the fall of 1966. Besides teaching students in the classroom, he also connected with students on the athletic field. During his three-decade career he impacted the lives of hundreds of student athletes in track, basketball, baseball, and football.

Timmer, as he affectionally was called, was most well-known after coaching football and baseball at WHS. He, along with Paul “Roy” Jenkins, helped to establish the football program at WHS in the fall of 1971. Timmer roamed the sidelines along with Coach Jenkins for the next twenty-nine seasons, helping to establish the winning tradition that we know today for the Bullets Football Program.

Coach Timm became the ninth head coach in the history of the Bullet Baseball Program in the spring of 1973, replacing Don Anielak. This would be his first stint as the head coach of the Bullets, as he would hold this position for three seasons. Timmer returned to the helm in the spring of 1982 and would be in the dugout for the Bullets for the next fourteen seasons. Over the course of his seventeen-year career, Timmer would amass an overall record of 205-136-1, capture four conference titles, and two IHSA regional titles. He is one of only three coaches to have over 200 wins as head coach for the Bullets Baseball program and is currently third in all-time wins for the program.

As a result of the lasting impact he has had on the lives of not only student-athletes, but thousands of students, and the overall WCUSD #15 community, the WCUSD #15 Board of Education in conjunction with the WCUSD #15 Athletic and Activity Department will officially name the WCUSD #15 Baseball Field in Timmer’s honor on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The ceremony will take place prior to the start of the first game of a double header against Teutopolis at 10:00 am.

If you have any additional questions regarding this event, please contact the athletic and activity office at Williamsville High School.
